K.D., Portland, OR - "I've worn Hocks Noise Brakers for 40 years.  My mother insisted I get fitted for my first pair when I was just 16 years old.  She was concerned that my daily drumset practicing would harm my hearing.  I've worn them throughout my tour with the United States Marine Corps Band in hundreds of music performances.  I also wore them on the rifle range and when loading gear on planes when the band traveled.  I've worn them when I was working in construction, logging, and when teaching music and working with marching bands.  I've worn them whenever I'm operating hand tools, yard tools, or vacuuming.  I always wear them when I'm practicing my drums and, as a working professional drummer, I've worn them to thousands of live performances over the years.  I also wear them when I'm in the recording studio, under my headphones.  When I'm on stage, they not only protect my hearing, they also help me hear the shole band.  Because of the way they work, I can hear every instrument on stage, not just the loudest or ones closest to me.  I've worked around crashing cymbals, blasting trumpets, amplified guitars and in high-volume surroundings for most of the last 4 decades, and I still have my hearing, thanks to Hocks Noise Brakers and a little encouragement from my mother.  Just ordered two new pairs of them. - Thanks, Hocks!"

The Ear Impression

  • A comfortable, custom made earmold is extremely important in the successful fitting of both hearing protection and hearing instruments.
  • The earmold is a duplicate of the ear impression you send us ~ please take full and complete impressions, with sufficient canal depth.
  • We do our best to work with all impressions.  However, complete and full impressions are required at Hocks Hearing Healthcare Products to guarantee fit and comfort for all custom made earpieces.

The finished impressions need to meet the following criteria.

1.The concha is round and full

2.The canal is past the 2nd bend

3.The helix is filled in and complete

4.The impression fills the ear cavity, including    the tragus, concha, and antihelix

  •  Please look each impression over carefully
  •  If an impression does not meet the above criteria, please take another impression.                                                     Suggestions For Taking Impressions
  • Note any abnormalities in the impression, that are natural for your patient, on your order form.

  • Please package your impressions for protection when shipping.  A small box is preferred.

Remake Policy

  • Free remake up to 30 days from the date the original mold was invoiced
  • From 30 to 90 days, the cost of the remake is half the original charge
  • After 90 days ~ full charge for remakes
  • Send new impression
  • Return original mold
  • Provide reason for remake
  • Provide full order information

Note:  A free remake must be the same style as the original order.  A changed style is not a remake, it is a new order.

When alterations / modifications are made to the earmold,
the warranty is void.

R.K., Portland, OR - "I purchased my Noise Brakers in 1987 when I read about them being used by Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager in their aircraft flight around the world.  I still have and use them.  After 30 years of use I thought maybe it was time to buy a new pair.  I use them for my shooting sports and love them.  They are very comfortable and the best noise suppression I've ever used.  Far superior to any of the other brands I've seen over the years.  Thanks for the great work!"

J.A., OR - "I suddenly developed Tinnitus and Hyperacusis in 1987.  At that time I found out about Hocks.  I had my first pair of Custom Noise Brakers made.  That pair lasted until 1998, only because my purse was stolen with them in it.  I had another custom pair made, which to this day (2012), I still wear.  I can honestly say that I cannot live my life without them!  To me, they are a vital necessity, just like a pair of glasses.  With my Hyperacusis and Tinnitus I cannot tolerate loud noises and certain frequencies that other (normal hearing) people can.  Excellent product!  Since they are so vital to me, I'm getting a backup pair.  Keep up the great work!  They are the best!  I hope you are able to make this product forever!!  Thanks!"

Swim Plugs

Prevent leakage with a seal only available in custom units.  No swim mold can provide a 100% water-tight seal.  However, a properly fitted mold will prevent most moisture from entering the ear.  They are recommended, by swimming instructors and doctors, for persons requiring protection of the ear.

Sleep Plugs

The sleeping plug is similar to a solid plug, but with the canal shortened and the outer surface of the mold phantomed (scooped out) for comfort when lying on the ear.
